Yes. They would wear them around the house on weekends rolled up into a capri-style. They were considered incredibly informal, so it was usually just around the house.

The key difference though between the jeans ladies wore in the 1950’s and those they wear today is the zipper. Today, most jeans are unisex in their basic design, meaning the zipper is in the front. In the 50’s ladies jeans were distinctive in that the zipper was placed on the side and ran from the waist down to almost mid-thigh. Only men’s jeans had fly zippers in the front (for obvious reasons).
